With these generous contributions, Obscura hopes to raise money to support the ongoing Melbourne Grammar School Sculpture Program. The inaugural sculpture is a commissioned piece by renowned Melbourne based artist Callum Morton OM 1982, to be installed later this year. Callum has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1990 and in 2007 was one of three artists to represent Australia at the Venice Biennale. He is represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery.
Obscura also hopes to raise money to support the Melbourne City Mission, Melbourne Academy Art Exhibition. The Melbourne Academy, was established to give teenagers who are disengaged from school and living on the streets the opportunity for a life-changing education. The classes assist those who don’t fit into traditional schooling, many whom have experienced poverty, family trauma, homelessness, abuse, learning issues or simply struggle to fit in to mainstream education. The annual Art Exhibitionprovides a step towards rebuilding confidence and independence.
